WHAT IS 'FLEX TIME'?

'Flex time' is considered instructional time and occurs from 11:20 to 11:35 on Wednesdays and Thursdays (after each long-block morning) and again in the afternoon from 2:55-3:10 each week. The use of flex time is at the discretion of the teacher whether or not a student or the entire class remains. A student is considered truant if he or she does not remain or attend a pre-arranged flex time. If a student is not asked to attend flex time by a teacher or administrator, then that time becomes student discretionary time. In this case, students may go to any of their classes for extra help, do make-up tests, or work on projects; they may use the time for personal needs (i.e. phone calls, arranging for transportation, meetings, etc.).

NUTRITION BREAKS

Students should remain on school property during morning and afternoon nutrition breaks, as the breaks are, generally, not long enough to return to class on time. Failure to stay on school property during breaks may result in a referral to the administration.

For more information on these and other school and student policies please refer to your LVR Student Handbook.
