WELCOME TO THE L.V. ROGERS SECONDARY SCHOOL PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL!

If you are a parent or guardian of a child who is attending L.V. Rogers Secondary then you are a member of the LVR Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

PAC meetings are held throughout the year and all parents are welcome to attend. These meetings provide opportunities to find out what's happening in the school, to ask questions, and to provide input. Ms. Holizki also provides a 'Principal's Report' at each meeting to update parents on school events and issues.

What is the PAC and what does it do?

Our Constitution states that "the Council's primary mandate is to promote effective communication between the home and the school. The Council shall encourage parents to participate in meaningful educational activities and decision-making, to strengthen the role of families in education and schooling and to foster meaningful participation."

The aim of our PAC is to give feedback to the school on topics such as school goals, policies and procedures. Please note that PAC meetings, however, are not the place to discuss school personnel, individual students and/or parents.

LVR PAC is not a fundraising group. However, the PAC does administer and distribute funds received from the provincial government through the Gaming Commission Branch. These funds are specifically targeted for supporting extra-curricular events.

School Planning Council

Seven years ago, the BC Government gave PACs the additional responsibility of electing THREE of its members to the School Planning Council (SPC). This is a very important responsibility because each year the SPC, in consultation with staff, parents and students, sets the direction the school will take to improve student achievement. The SPC at LVR is compromised of 7 members: the Principal, 1 teacher, 2 students and 3 parents. This group works as a team and parents have an important contribution to make!

To find out about upcoming PAC meetings, topics of interest to parents, and as a way that we can get feedback from you when necessary, we encourage you to add your e-mail address to the school parent listserve. To get on the list, please e-mail our secretary, Nikki Olsson, at lvrannounce@sd8.bc.ca.

Parents who would like to be on the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) email list, please contact us at LVR.PAC@gmail.com. You will receive notice of PAC meetings, minutes of meetings, District PAC and other relevant information.
