Parents: Note in your calendar, on April 10th at 7pm  in the LVR Library,  Cate Baio is facilitating  a parent night out "Daring Greatly for Parents" with a  discussion on how to build courage and resilience in parenting based on the work of Brene Brown (https://brenebrown.com).  Parenting is riddled with uncertainty and you will walk away with ideas on how to be brave as a parent and how to support yourself when the going gets rough.

PARENTS: The next LVR PAC meeting  is Mon. April 1st 7pm at LVR. The focus of the meeting will be reviewing recommendations from the PAC Finance Committee re:  the 2nd round of PAC grant applications.  LVR RUGBY PARENTS: The first tournament is Rugbyfest in Kamloops  April 12th-14th. Please ensure students bring all money from sold Finley's fundraiser tickets and any unsold tickets to practice today ideally, or to the office by tomorrow Fri. 15th. Please ensure that Janna, the LVR Rugby team manager, has your email contact, by emailing Janna at nelsonbcrugby@gmail.com , and then all parents can easily be  informed about team practices, games and away tournaments. 

The grad parent committee is looking for two Gr 12 parents to join the committee and take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator. This is a vital position to help get students and parents from Gr 11 and Gr 12 to volunteer on the Grad weekend and for other functions. This position needs to be filled ASAP. If you're interested please contact the parent grad committee. Thank you.
 

The Grad Talent Show is happening! It’s on Tuesday May 28th, 7pm at the Capitol Theatre. Auditions will be held at the end of April, and the exact time and location is to be announced. Will be auditioning for MC’s for the evening and all sorts of talent such as Dance, Music, Theatre, Comedy, Lip Sync, Acrobatics… If you’ve got a talent that could be showcased, we’re open to seeing it! All grades are welcomed and encouraged to be involved. Lots of other information (like audition details, contact information, etc.) will be announced in early April. ​
 

The ATLAS Applications are now available at the office. Completed applications are due back to the office no later than April 5th at 4:00.
 

Reminder to Junior and Senior girls soccer players: there will be a practice in the gym Friday after school, from 3:30 to 5:00pm. Also the medical forms must be completed, or updated and returned to Tanis’ office by today. You may leave them in her envelope on her door.

 

Attention athletes: There was a change to the Ultimate Frisbee times. It will run Fridays between 3:30-5pm, instead of Monday, after spring break!

 

The annual Sroamazing race is back at Whitewater on March 29, and its gonna be better than ever! Grab your team of four, find some rad costumes, and compete for prizes in many fun activities. Preregister at Whitewater Ski resort, or on the day, Again, this is on Friday, March 29 and it's $20 per team. Sign up now to get extra raffle tickets, and win big!

 

Hey AP students, time is closing in on registration for the May AP exam. $130 is due to the office by this Friday. 

 

The NDCC has part-time and full-time positions available for this summer's season! If you are interested, swing by the office and check out their Job Posting Sheet right there by the counter.

 

Attention LVR Baseball Players: There is a mandatory practice today after school in the gym, from 3:30 to 5. All team forms and fees must be turned in at this practice if you wish to play LVR Baseball this season. Once again, baseball practice in the gym, today at 3:30 and all forms and fees are due at this practice if you wish to play.

 

Study support and help is available in Room 205 at lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with Cindy.   Please respect that Room 205 is a quiet study space.   Students may be writing tests or getting one-on-one support.   Anyone who is not quietly working, will need to find another area in the school to spend lunch.  Those needing emotional support at lunch, rather than study support, are encourage to go to the counselling area or the main office.

 

LVR Rugby Players please ensure all the money from sold Finley's fundraiser tickets and any unsold tickets are handed into the school office today.

 

Please purchase your tickets this week for the LVR Rugby Burger & Beverage & Silent Auction Fundraiser at Finley's, on Saturday March 16th from 2-4pm. The European Six Nations Championship Rugby Final will be playing and there are lots of Silent Auction items! Tickets are $15/person at the school office or at the door (This is a family oriented event with all students under 19 required to be accompanied by an adult)  

 

The Beijing International Education Exchange is hosting a 10 day Summer camp mid-July, where you will be travelling to Beijing, China. The deadline to RSVP is this tomorrow. Go to bccie.bc.ca for more information or see Kathy in Room 205.

 

The lunch special in the landing today is Samosas with Green Salad, and coming up tomorrow are Burritos.
