Emerging Student Artists Showcase Paintings at NDCC

There’s an exciting new art gallery in town, and it includes a swimming pool, skating rink and fitness area. L.V. Rogers Secondary School (LVR) art students are showcasing Atmospheric Ink Paintings at the Nelson and District Community Complex (NDCC) until April 4.

Mental Health Event and Wellness Fair

LV Rogers, in collaboration with Karen and Chuck Bennett and the LVR girls soccer team, hosted "Start the Conversation" - An assembly presentation and wellness fair featuring guest Key Note speaker Victoria Maxwell as well as guest speakers from The Foundry.

Community Event at LVR to Promote Mental Health

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) and Bennett Family Real Estate owners Chuck and Karen Bennett invite the community to “Start the Conversation,” a school and community event that focuses on mental health, featuring award-winning keynote speaker Victoria Maxwell.

LVR Green Team Earth Day Event 2023

On Sunday, April 23, the LVR High School Green Team along with support from members of the West Kootenay Climate Hub held an Earth Day event at the Nelson Innovation Centre from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

Earth Day is recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behaviour and create global, national and local policy changes. As the awareness of our climate crisis grows, so does civil society mobilization which is reaching a fervour across the globe today.

LVR Band Receives Silver Rating in Kelowna!

The LV Rogers Jazz Band participated in the BC Interior Jazz Festival held April 15 and 16 in Kelowna. The Band performed in the Kelowna festival and received a Silver Rating in their class category! In addition to performing and receiving this great award, students received valuable adjudication feedback from professional jazz educators and performers. The festival also offered students an excellent learning experience, as they had the opportunity to observe a variety of both student and professional jazz ensembles.

LVR Aboriginal Education Family Winter Fest

The LVR Aboriginal Education Department hosted their Winter Feast for families on Thursday January 20 at 5:00 pm in the multipurpose room at LVR. 

The event was well attended by LVR Aboriginal Education students and families including two elders from the community and the Aboriginal Advocate at Selkirk College. 

LVR Aboriginal Academic Support teachers, Jesse Halton and Liv Hilde, worked hard to prepare a feast of bison stew, vegetables stew and bannock.
