Hello LV families!

We’d like to welcome you to an exciting new year at LV Rogers Secondary School!

Our staff are here to welcome your family, specifically your child, to LV Rogers Secondary School for the academic year 2025-26. Our first day back with students is September 2nd. Classes start at 8:40am, but we will have the courtyard open to students by 8:15am. There will be a table in the courtyard with some student helpers which will have a printed copy of our grade 10 students’ schedules and locker numbers.

We will also have Lavina Espresso, a local Kootenay coffee company from Harrop-Procter set up in the courtyard selling coffee, tea and snacks for students who need a little extra boost on the first day back.

We will have limited capacity to do scheduling support – ONLY THOSE STUDENTS who do not have a schedule, or who have a missing course should connect with the office team. Any course changes can be made in the first few weeks of school through counsellor appointments. The deadline to drop courses is September 15th.

We will run through the full four-block rotation (ABCD) so that students will be able to meet all their teachers on the first day.

The Block rotation for the first day is as follows:
Block A: 8:40am – 9:25am
Block B: 9:35am – 10:20am
Block C: 10:30am – 11:15am
Block D: 11:25am – 12:10pm

Buses will run three hours ahead of the usual schedule on the 2nd. Please ensure that your child is registered for the bus by clicking here.

The remainder of the week will run with the same ABCD rotation. Please check out the LVR Website for the full year rotation here. This document also has our regular block times, and term start and end dates for your reference.

Students will need to bring a binder, lined paper and something to write with for the first day of classes. They should also bring a calculator if they have Math this semester, or a change of clothes and gym shoes if they have PHE. Teachers will provide your students with a more fulsome list of supplies if they are necessary.

As a reminder, cellphones are not to be used during instructional time, unless specifically requested for curricular reasons by the classroom teacher. This includes within the school during spare blocks or during the two 10-minute transition times. Phones may be used before school, during the lunch break, and after school only. If you have any questions or concerns, please review the policy here.

Stay Up-To Date

We regularly update the school website; I will send out an updater for what is going on at LV using the school’s blog page. Check out the LV Rogers Secondary Website at: https://lvr.sd8.bc.ca/

Thank you and looking forward to seeing your students soon!

Sincerely,

Ian Cooper
