LVR Weekly Update - 15Apr23
Good day out there, LVR Community.
This week's photo comes from Ms. Asbell's highly productive and engaging Ceramics class. Thanks to Ms. Asbell for inviting me in to come see the beautiful, newly fired pottery yesterday!
Thank you also to Karen & Chuck Bennett who approached LVR earlier this year to work together with our school and district to develop an upcoming event called 'Start the Conversation' in recognition of the challenges with mental health and the importance of supportive communities. Please visit https://starttheconversationnelson.com/ for the Bennett's personal motivation for this collaborative, long-term project, as well as details for this year's event, which includes an afternoon session for students & staff and an evening session for families & community members. Victoria Maxwell, (http://victoriamaxwell.com/) will be our keynote speaker, followed by representatives from Foundry (https://foundrybc.ca/), who will share their support services & resources that are getting very positive reviews from across BC. We are also working with local service providers to be available after the sessions for conversations after the speakers.

Nelson Tennis Club - One of the Nelson Tennis Club’s important goals is inclusivity and equal opportunity to enjoy our fun sports. This season, with the support of the Nelson Lions Club and the Nelson District Credit Union, NTC is piloting a bursary program to subsidize individuals and families that are keen to play but inhibited in doing so by financial hardship. Please take a moment to think of someone that would benefit and refer them to www.nelsontennisclub.com to complete a brief and confidential on-line application. Tennis membership and PB season pass subsidies are limited in number and issued on a first-come basis, so folks are encouraged to act promptly. Thanks for helping make our facility an even better place. - Keith Bridger, President - Nelson Tennis Club & Simone Simpson - 647-967-4744.
