LVR Weekly Update - 17Feb24
Good day out there, LVR Community.
Thanks to Naomi Legg for this week's pic from our Aboriginal Education room with hands-on work and learning making rabbit fur pom-poms. Naomi has also been sharing her own learning of the "sn-səlxcin" language this year with students & staff throughout the school.
Yesterday's school-based professional development was highly valuable for LVR staff as we had a deep discussion with a range of perspectives around artificial intelligence, technology, and what it means to be an educator and to be educated. We also took time in small collaboration groups across the school for teachers to work on their overlapping personal learning & development plans. I spent a good part of the day looking at a report we get for where our students are applying to for post-secondary and in looking at assessment & grading policies & course outlines from these post-secondary institutions, with the aim of being clear on what our students can expect beyond graduation. I love these days of deep learning & sharing!
Congratulations to Ava Thorson who is the successful candidate for LVR's nomination for the BC Excellence Scholarship!
